Hi,

I just happened to solve the kernel_task high cpu > 90% issue on my PC.

My configuration:

CPU: Intel C2D E6300 2.8G

Mainboard: Intel G41, ICH7

Video card: nVIDIA GeForce 7300GT

OS X version: iATKOS_v7

Problems and fixes:

1. needs to input cpus=1 when booting, fixed after applying cpus=1 patch in iDeneb.v1.5.10.5.7 installation CD

2. video card driver, fixed after apply the patch here ->NVIDIA_7300_GT.zip

3. kernel_task causes cpu high > 90%, fixed after (1)applying ACPI_SMC fix patch, (2)de-selected all items in Spotlight config, now the kernel_task's cpu is less than 1%

4. it is very slow when booting (about 5 minutes), saying "Interfacenamer: timed out waiting for IOKit to quiesce", no fix yet...

Overall, as I am a newbie, this is out of my expectation and I want to share it :)

Where you found ACPI_SMC fix patch? I have the same problem with iATKOS v7 (which is the only distro that installs and runs!!!).

My spec:

Biostar TP43D2-A7

2GB DDR-II (put on a single slot)

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400

NVIDIA GeForce 9400GT

The system boots very slow maybe 10 minutes and then is the kernel_task at 100%. Also it is very unstable and freezes often sometimes only hard reboot helps.

I've installed with the following options: Voodoo PS/2, Voodoo HDA, AHCI, Realtek R1000 and all the default setting from iATKOS v7 distribution.
