MacDaddyMike
Hi, I recently installed SL and updated to 10.6.1 with all my hardware working including my 4870 X2. Does anyone have any experience with this card? Is the performance on par in games with say Windows 7 or is it actually better? I've noticed the FPS is a bit low while playing WoW. I used the updated ATI kexts from netkas.org that enable QE/CI for 4870 and 4870 X2 cards. doug_1986
Hi there, Have been using the 4870x2 in Leopard for a while now with FCP and Motion and works a charm. Not sure about games though, I guess that's a totally different thing. Sorry to go slightly off, but exactly which kexts from netkas.org did you use? I have been trying to get the card working in Snow Leo since it was launched, and still can't seem to nail it. I have tried all the packages etc on his site, so am curious which ones you are using? Would you mind directly linking to them? Thanks so much Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/194980-4870-x2-performance-on-snow-leopard/#findComment-1316214 Share on other sites

Not sure if both are detected in SL. The exact kexts that I used can be found here Also make sure to follow the instructions here as this is a prerequisite to get the ATI cards working properly. Let me know how it goes as I'd be interested to know what performance you get out of it. Do you know of any Mac GPU benchmarking tools? If so can run that to compare nicely Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/194980-4870-x2-performance-on-snow-leopard/#findComment-1318957 Share on other sites
