Okay, So Im thoroughly confused now.

I originally installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on my inspiron e1705 laptop, and after much {censored} left and right, finally got it to update to 10.5.8 with a nice kernel and no cpus=1 option. Its running beautifully.

But now I have a desktop that I want to make into a nice OSX machine.

Its a Optiplex GX280. P4 3.2Ghz (HT), 1gb ram, just put a 9800 GT into it.

So now Im stuck.

What the hell do I do to get this thing running SL?! I can SORTA run kalyway, but I lose internal nic, plus the 9800GT just isnt working right. On top of that, the kernel never wanted to update properly, and I cant get rid of the damned thing.

SO!

Ive got a copy of SL retail, but Im reading on this Boot-123 disk, these other ways of making a flash drive bootable...then its a matter of compatability. Is SL compatable with my stuff, or should I stick on Leopard? Is the jump to SL really even worth it? Am I gaining anything? If not, and if Im staying on 10.5, what do I have to do to get this damned P4 to stop whining and work properly??

So thats my story. Any help would greatly appreciated. Ive read a LOT of topics left and right, and google has been my friend over everything, but I cant seem to get a straight answer for the life of me. If you have a link to another thread, Id be more than happy to read it. I just cant figure it out!

I think Ill go put on my helmet again
