justdofit
G'day, Just a quick question for the kextperts on the board. After upgrading my hackintosh server from os x server 10.5.5 to 10.5.8 (unfortunately necessary for compatibility with server tools on snow leopard) I can't shutdown nicely any more without a kernal panic. In verbose mode it stops at "uptime in nano seconds" right after some info about cpu power management? As this is a headless server, it would be really nice to have a reliable shutdown, to work in with the UPS's nice shutdown features on power failure etc. Also, restart works perfectly & I haven't tested sleep - as it's a server sleep is off by default. Please find below some brief info about the hardware: Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-EP45-DS3L; CPU: Intel - Pentium E5300 2.6GHz Dual Core; RAM: Corsair - 4GB (2x2GB) xms2 800mhz DDR2 ram; Video: Asus - EN8400GS 512MB (silent); Network: Netgear - GA311 (1000BaseT); Sata Card: Firmtek - Seritek/1S2; Hard Drives: 1 x WD 320GB Caviar Blue, 2 x WD 500GB Caviar Blue, 2 x Samsung 500GB T166, 2 x Seagate 1.5TB AS Series, Lacie eSata Enclosure w/ WD 1TB Green HDD. Also a breif rundown of the boot stuff: • Boot Think, running off a 2GB Thumbdrive; • Custom dsdt.aml following blackosx's guide (excluding video, network & sound); • A bare-bone smbios.plist to make the server look like an xserve; • Patched AppleVIAATA.kext to include Seritek ID; • IONetworkFamily.kext & Patched RealtekR1000.kext for the GA311 (also install the latest drivers from the Realtek website); • UUID.kext to solve UUID errors and other problems with the webserver. Please find below some screen grabs of the other kexts installed (from Scottapotamas's retail 10.5.x boot tink guide : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=162179). And another picture of the Server Admin window just for fun Thanks again for all the help in getting this server up and running (my old G4 tower is resting easy now).
