thedeadchicken
Hi there, I've been trying to install a version of OSX since Sunday, but so far it's proven elusive. Initially I tried the ToH RC2 disk with no success, but after attempting the JaS 10.5.4 disk the install completed and it seemed as if I was finally able to boot it (though I had to hit F12 and select the disk with the OS on it--something that no one else seemed to have to do...). However, after Darwin loaded and it went to the gray apple screen, sat for a couple minutes with the wheel spinning, and then the "stop" icon appeared (the crossed circle). I've tried to read other posts on this matter, but they weren't much help. If anyone could help with this and offer me some direction, I would really appreciate it: I need OSX ASAP for work purposes and buying a Mac is out of the question. Here are my system specs: Dell Precision 670 Dual Xeon Processor @ 2.8 GHz Dell 0X0392 Motherboard Intel E7525 Chipset r 09 Dell BIOS v. A07 4 GB RAM If anyone can think of a way to proceed or if you require more information, please reply and I will post back ASAP. Thanks. thedeadchicken
Updates: I booted it in verbose mode and I get an error about firewire not being able to go into secure mode, then "still waiting for root device" ad infinitum. After searching some more posts, I tried booting it with the commands "-v rd=disk0s1" and it starts loading but ends with the following lines: "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: kernel_task Mac OS version: Not yet set Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.0: Tue Feb 26 21:21:24 SCT 2008; made by ToH:xnu-1228/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_1386" Any ideas with how to proceed?
