xhale
Is there anyway to make parallels work off a physical drive? or do you have to use a virtual file or whatever. I would like to have both options but I dont want to eat all that HD space installing everything twice. possible? NeSuKuN
Even if it where possible, I wouldn't do that, windows haets when you change a lot of hardware at the same time, and booting the same system from virtual hardware to phisical hardware will make windows angry xD It may work but I've had horrible experiences changing the PC's mobo without formatting, also if you have GPU drivers like ati's or nvidia's one, this may cause problems booting with paralells 'gpu'. (like when you change from a nvidia GPU to a ATI without uninstalling the drivers first) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19400-boot-camp-parallels/#findComment-127102 Share on other sites
Tony Montana
This is possible, at least with linux and windows and vmware.. there was a topic about this on the gentoo forums. can't seem to find it now though. the trick here is to use a feature of windows called hardware profiles. you need to make 2 hardware profiles for windows, one for your physical hardware, and one for your virtual hardware. windows will try to find out which profile matches or will ask you to select which one to use. There is an how-to on the vmware site under support docs. I don't have the time right now to sort it all out for you but this should get you on the way.
