Krolls
Howdy Folks, I have been lurking this site for some time and I figured it was about time to give this whole thing a shot. Right now I have this machine- 2.15 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP nVidia-nForce CDWRITER IDE4816 ATA Device [CD-ROM drive] GENERIC DVD DUAL 4XMax ATA Device [CD-ROM drive] WDC WD1600JB-00GVA0 [Hard drive] (160.04 GB) WDC WD600BB-00CAA1 [Hard drive] (60.02 GB) NVIDIA GeForce 6200 [Display adapter] I know I will obviously have to change my Chip and Mobo... but I assume the rest of the machine is up to snuff. I am looking for a low to mid-range mobo and chip combo. I do some video editing so I would like enough horsepower to get that job done. Your help is highly apperciated! boo50
you need a mobo from Intel or Asus on 945G chipset. smthg like Asus p5ld2-vm, or intel 945gnt. they have integrated GMA950, what is fully supported out of a box and good anough for video editing. the best choice of processor with anough horsepower and good price is a Pentium D805. just 130 bucks for dual core 2.66 Ghz processor. and don't forget about memory, for the power system you need a minimum 1GB of RAM. this will be really powerfull middle range OSX box but all of them have only one ATA IDE port with only two devices can be connected.
