Hello, I have been unsuccessful in getting hold of an iso of Snow Leopard that I can boot up to install in VMware Workstation 7 running on XP Professional. I have resorted to installing iPC 10.5.6 on a virtual machine, splitting the virtual hard drive into 2 partitions, then installing Snow Leopard on the new partition through /Volumes/Mac OS X Server Install Disc/System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg because if I click on Install from the Menu, the disk prompts me to restart and I boot up back to Desktop of the 10.5.6 again. After installation, I tried to change the Startup Disk via Preferences and select Mac OS X Server 10.6 and clicked on Restart. A drop down box again asks me to confirm that I want to restart and I click it, but the virtual machine does not restart while Mac OS gives me a "bong" error sound. I've checked the logs and this is what it records:

Someone please help me or help me find a way to get a bootable Snow Leopard iso from a dmg in Windows <-- I've tried converting in Mac but cannot write back to the VMware Shared Folders (it gives an unknown error: 0)

This won't work in VMware as there is no way to write the boot variable. If you cannot copy the iso via Shared Folder then setup good old fashioned network shares between host and guest using Samba. Google for setting up a share like this as it does not depend on VMware it is the same as having two physical machines. You may want to make sure the guest has a static IP address and again this is just standard Mac OS X stuff.

The other way, and I haven tried it, is to have 2 virtual hard disks, one with your Leopard install on and the blank one you use to install SL. Then when done use the existing secondary virtual disk as the primary drive in a new guest.

Do you think I can burn the dmg in Windows using TransMac? Will it be bootable?

You need to convert it to an ISO. dmg2iso runs fine for me to convert my ADC Leopard Server DMG to ISO. Then just attach as CD to the guest via the guest settings.

Do you mean Snow Leopard? I've tried DMG2ISO but it gives something like directory list corrupted. I'm sure the dmg is not corrupted. I've tried 3 different copies of the Snow Leopard dmg but to no avail! Maybe you can share you ADC login?

I have used it on several images. I would check you dmg it does sound like there is something wrong with it.
