20k
What's up guys - hoping someone can shed some light on a weird hardware issue I'm experiencing. I recently installed iAtkos v7 and everything was working like a charm (sort of). I have a couple firewire devices I planned on using. The first is a standard Maxtor external HD and the 2nd is an old M-Audio Firewire 410. I grabbed the drivers for the 410 and installed them and it was working fine for a bit, but after 20 minutes or so my mouse locked up! I could still use the keyboard to navigate around but for some reason the mouse simply stopped responding (plugged in via USB). I get a similar issue when using the HD too - when I plug it in I can generally get about 5-10 minutes of use before it locks the mouse and or slowly locks the system completely. Sometimes when the lock occurs the soundcard ceases to function - other times it continues playing the audio without an issue. Sometimes the freeze occurs when opening the audio midi setup, and will almost always occur when trying to install anything from the HD. Not sure where the issue is really coming from but my spider sense is pointing at the firewire ports (I have tried both the mobo port and the PCI card ports I have installed). My hardware setup is as follows: EVGA 750i FTW Mobo Core2 Quad 2.6ghz processor 4GB Corsair Dominator RAM Sony DVD-DL burner WD 500gb Caviar Blue HD EVGA GTX260 graphics card Toughpower 700W power supply Linksys PCI Wireless-N card PCI Firewire Adapter Peripherals: PS2 IBM Terminal keyboard (old school!) running via ApplePS2 USB Microsoft mouse M-Audio Firewire 410 sound interface M-Audio Keyrig 49 Midiman Midisport 2x2 Anniversary Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm betting that I'm causing some sort of stupid conflict that I'm too oblivious to have noticed. TL;DR - FW soundcard will lock the mouse in place, leave system running fine. FW HD will often lock the system slowly, eventually causing full lockup. Everything else fully functional. EDIT: Just got a kernel panic while not using any FW devices, but maybe this will help diagnose the problems. It seems that the program that caused it to kick the bucket was my usenet downloader Sabnzbd+. Screenie attached.
