I've abandoned the work I've done on installing Snow Leopard and instead decided to give 10.5 a whirl. Using iATKOS 7, I did manage to install and get functional an install of Leopard... in safe mode... without a functioning touchpad. I followed the procedure here, changing up only the bootloader installer out of necessity. However, in normal mode, the screen proceeds to be garbled and the system itself is unresponsive otherwise. I can see the apple logo as normal, and the pinwheel for a moment striped across the screen before the system becomes completely irresponsive. Forcing a video mode I know that works does not help. Dropping into safe mode does fix the visual problem, but then I find my touchpad is completely irresponsive (a previous install failed to recognize both the keyboard and mouse; I had forgot to customize that install).

Any thoughts?
