lewiz
Hi, Got 10.4.6 up and running nicely. However, I just switched my wireless card into the box and nothing happened. I'd hoped since it was an Atheros (AR5212 dual band) it would "just work". I understood it to be very similar to the WG311T cards. Anybody know if getting this card to go is as simple as hacking some PCI vendor IDs into some files? If it is, anybody able to help me out with which files would need editing? lewiz
Well, turns out it was my fault all along. I installed some custom wireless patches at install time. A reinstall without these did the trick. The card works flawlessly out of the box now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19311-netgear-wag311-atheros-5212-fixed/#findComment-126618 Share on other sites
ellioT
i never even thought about not using those wireless patches at the install, gonna try a reinstall without those for my WPN511 which uses the same chipset. thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19311-netgear-wag311-atheros-5212-fixed/#findComment-216003 Share on other sites

I'm having the same problem with this card after upgrading to 10.4.6 & 7. It worked flawlessly in 10.4.5 when no drivers were loaded. ellioT
never got mine to work, turns out there are no drivers for the actual chipset which controls the PCCardBus (for pcmcia and mini-pci) so it didn't matter what drivers i had for my pcmcia wifi card cause it would never find it anyways. sorry i couldn't be any help, if i was you i would find the thread with the older 10.4.5 wireless kext and try replacing your new one with it because some people had luck with that Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19311-netgear-wag311-atheros-5212-fixed/#findComment-242310 Share on other sites
