So I'm having some issues after installing iPC on my desktop, and I was wondering if I could get some input.

For this install I'm borrowing a friends SATA DVD drive, because I don't have one. Here's the rest of my setup:

One CD-RW as master on PATA

One 120GB HD as slave on PATA

GA-EP35-DS3R MOBO

Intel Core 2 E6420

Nvidia GeForce 9600GT

2 Gigs RAM

During install I get the ALC889A and RTL100 kexts for my onboard audio and network card respectively, and the OSx86 tools application. Everything works fine during installation.

After rebooting for the first boot however, the OS locks up with the "Still waiting for root device" error. I've read a lot of the guides on this and fiddled with a few things. I made sure both the master and slave PATA drives are on the same channel, both set to cable select, and the CD-RW is the master w/ the HD the slave. I've seen both recommendations to make SATA operate in AHCI and IDE mode, neither fixes the problem for me.

One thing that did give me some change was by typing rd=disk0s1 as a boot parameter, the kernel panics trying to NFS boot. I don't know if this gets me farther ahead or behind though, and couldn't find a good guide explaining how to fix this.

It seems like the problem has something to do with the SATA or PATA controller, or maybe has something to do with my configuration of one DVD drive on SATA, on CD-RW one PATA master, and one HD on PATA slave, but I can't really change this config.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing the trouble and how I could fix this?
