fabiopigi
Hi i want to build a cheap as possible Snow Leopard Server It would only have three taskes: - TimeMachine Backup service for three original Macs in the Network (MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro) - USB Webcam surveilance - Download Server What i would need to work correctly: - Wired Network (of course) with Bonjour - Audio output (stereo is enough) for the "hey you burgular i see you" part - OnBoard Graphic Will the Atom 330 be fast enough for a Server or would it slow down the system too much? nok6230
I just got this motherboard with the intention of installing snow leopard server, but I am not having any luck. I can't even get regular snow leopard to run. has anybody had any success getting 10.6 onto this motherboard? So far I have tried the blackos method and a few others. I am getting a KP right from the start. I know 10.5.7 can be installed but I would really like to get 10.6 working. It is not on the 10.6 components list at x86. I will keep trying for a few days and post my results. GiraffeAbduction
I currently use this board with 10.5.8 server installed. From a load on the board issue it'll run fine. I use mine as a backup server / file server / itunes media server and i very rarely get over 10% usage. I was staying with 10.5.6 for the longest time since that was the only release to allow Hyper Threading, however I noticed some stability issues and eventually went to 10.5.8 and disabled HT and that resolved them. I have managed to get 10.6.0 installed and booting a few times however it seemed really unstable (video issues, apps crashing) I have yet to try to patch it to 10.6.1 on that drive but I'll give it a shot tonight. As far as how I did it I attached another drive to a working osx install and ran the install right off the retail disc. Once it completed I added RC3 chameleon and it started right up. I didn't play with any other fixes to resolve the stability issues as I don't have 10.6 server yet. With it being a working server I am unable to keep it offline for to long.
