Chronomaster
I'm working on getting Snow Leopard running on an MSi X600-031US laptop, and I've run into a hitch. I can get Chameleon to start running, and Darwin to start booting, but at a certain point, the screen goes corrupt on me (presumably it is about to drop into the GUI, and something is preventing it from acquiring the graphics card). I'm unsure of what it is precisely, but I think I might not have patched the DSDT properly, so I could use some help. I've primarily been using Lifehacker's Installation Guide and AsereBLN's Installation Guide to get myself to this point, subbing in what parts I need from my own setup to get it running. Everything I need is held on one USB Drive. I'm using the most recent version of Chameleon (from October 18th) and PC EFI 10.4.1. A note: After each failure, booting regularly yields a 'Checking NVRAM' message, which leads me to suspect I've screwed up the DSDT. Any help? I feel like I've missed a hundred different things in doing this, yet I've been searching like mad to anything likening to my configuration. I'll try to be accommodating to anyone who can help me, but I won't be very responsive today, so bear with me please. If that doesn't work, then I suggest you reinstall. Here's my guide on installing: Install Snow Leopard on a PC Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192892-help-needed-with-msi-x600-laptop/#findComment-1303423 Share on other sites
Chronomaster
{censored} {censored} {censored}, I've made an oversight. I meant to say I'm still trying to install Snow Leopard. It's not yet installed on the system itself. I'll go through that guide in the meanwhile. EDIT: Running the install in safe mode gets me a blank screen plus a cursor. No responsiveness or activity anywhere. Chronomaster
So, are you booting to Snow Leopard, the Snow Leopard installation, or Leopard? The Snow Leopard installation. Chronomaster
Alright, redid the DSDT according to DSDTSE's fixes, booted Snow Leopard Install with both the -v, -x, -v -x flags (I don't suspect turning verbose mode would change it, but you never know), and found out it wasn't locating the DSDT right so I had to direct the path. Still get a corrupt screen, and -x still gives me the blank screen with the cursor. A note: The last thing to check is a bunch of NTFS drivers for the NTFS partitions on the hard drive. This doesn't happen in safe mode unless it happens at a different time. The last line for safe mode is a line about the BootCache's hit rate being below threshold, same as the line before the NTFS drivers are loaded.
