Marvell Yukon 8E8038 is not a native Apple ethernet device. However, it is possible to mod the AppleYukon2.kext to accept it.

The only way for some laptops to even read that the device is there is to have a PCI bridge driver.

This was possible on Leopard with the use of Chung's pci card drivers.

I tried these on Snow Leopard and it KP'd. Anyone know of a solution?

hmmm you dont need to even replace the pci card drivers

just edit the info.plist of the yukon2.kext which is located in ionetworkingfamily.kext plugins

open the plist file in text editor and type 8053

this should give you two matches; replace this with 8038

also under the 8053 section ( which you replace with 8038) change the 436211ab to 435211ab

save the file and repair permissions

REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON YOUR HDD !!!

restart

I use Chameleon and I used the EthernetBuiltIn=Yes and it lists the PCI address of my Ethernet card (I see it if I use Wait=Yes). Still System Profiler nor Network settings say it exists though

Halp?
