Hi!

I just installed the Goatsecx-ISO on an external HD on my Inspiron 6400. It boots fine. But there are several problems.

1. WLAN

I've got a Centrino Duo notebook with a built-in 3945 chip. I saw that these chips won't work. Alternatively I have a D-Link DWL-122 USB dongle. It comes with OSX drivers, but these are too old to get it to work on x86 10.4.6.

2. Radeon Mobility X1300

I'm stuck in 1024x768 but have a 1280x800 widescreen laptop. I already read http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=17767, but I don't understand it at all and the 42 pages of the topic aren't very clarifying :)

edit: It's a PCIe card.

3. SigmaTel 9200 soundchip

This one wasn't recognized. Are there any additional steps to activate it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I also have the 6400, and am having the same problems. I thought my problems would be solved (except for the video) by using the Kensington Port Replicator-Dock thingy. It did no good. I still have no Ethernet or sound.

I hear the Dell wifi works, but I didn't really get much choice in customizing the lappy, so I stay with what I have.

I have searched high and low, and can find no help on any of these problems.

I have, however, found out how to fix it so I don't have to disable dual-core in the BIOS. I found it on this thread here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=18181

sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>platform=X86PC cpus=1 idlehalt=0 fn=3 -v</string>

What number is it? 92xx There is a published solution for 9220.

But lepascal says he has an Inspiron 6400 with Sigmatel 9200, so I'm betting you do too.

And I am betting you are correct (;

but Ive been having trouble looking for the exact number in the Device Manager.. would you know how I can find out?
