Hi everyone,

I'm a bit of a self-admitted newbie when it comes to osx86 however i'd like to give it a shot but I'm having some troubles installing it. (tried installing via Iatkos7, iDeneb 10.5.5 and kalyway and all are freezing at or around the same point)

First, My system specs:

-Intel Quad Core Q8200 2.33GHZ processor running on a Gateway DX4720-01h with Nvidia 630i/7100 chipset (motherboard is a gateway customized MSI ms-7399 flashed with bios A7399NG2.202 AMI based bios)

-4 GB Ram (2.8GB free after the onboard video takes the memory it needs)

-1 SATA Optiarc DVD Burner AD-7203S DVD+R DL

-2 SATA HArd drives, one is a 1TB hitachi and the other is a 750GB Seagate running on a SPAN RAID setup to combine both hard drives into one

Onboard Firewire, LAN, Nvidia 7100 video, smartmedia card reader

Currently installed operating systems:

Windows XP professional x64 - installed without any problems

Ubuntu Linux 9.04 64 bit - Installed using noapic flag during installation worked without a hitch

Now - problems with installation with OSX86:

when I stick in the boot DVD for both Iatkos and iDeneb, the darwin bootloader appears and says press any keep to edit startup options. I do such and at the boot line (where it says boot: ) I type in noapic. when i type that, the bootloader just reappears again and i do it over again only for this cycle to keep going.

If i let it boot normally, it shows the apple logo with a circle below it, then i wait about a minute and a half then a logo appears at top center of the apple logo which appears like a no-smoking logo.

When i go back into the startup options for darwin and type in boot: -v at the boot line, it goes right up until it states still waiting for root device.

is there any way I can get macos on this system? if so, please send me any assistance you can.

Please help!

boot the iatkos dvd, when it loads press f8 and go into boot options.

try typing "cpus=1" or "-legacy" or "cpus=1 -legacy"

without quotes.

thats what got it working for me.

do you have a similar setup as i do? Also which version of iatkos are you using?

i tried the cpus=1 command doesn't seem to really do much, im trying to download the iatkos v5i iso again maybe it didnt download properly but any other suggestions while this is happening would be greatly appreciated.

hey guys, just tried installing iatkos v5i and i used the flags on boot: line cpus=1 -legacy -v and the screenshot will show what happens next. Please keep in mind im running on a Nvidia Nforce 630i/7100 chipset - ive read theres a patch/kernel for the nforce, should i apply that to my dvd? please advise.

Check out my Pre-Series 7 nForce chipset + Intel CPU MOBO thread, especially posts #1 and #2...... :)

I used Iatkos v.7. make sure you burn it at a low speed. try using just "-legacy" it may take a while to boot and you might hear some very frightening noises coming from your disk drive.
