I've tried searching for a way to do this, but every time it fails.

I have 10.6 as dmg, and also as .toast that I made.

I'm trying to install 10.6 from within 10.5.7, is that possible?

I tried mounting the dvd, converting to .toast and mounting as disk, copying to usb stick and installing, all don't work

Also, I thought I could just copy all the contents from the dvd to a 8 gig usb stick, but the install always has files missing during install. also I had to copy a mft os.install.mpkg over. was I supposed to imput terminal commands for that?>

anyone know a good way to do this, as I don't have any dual layer dvds laying around and I'm not even sure how to remake the .dmg with the osinstall.mpkg inside

Make an 8GB partition on your HDD and use Disk Utility to 'restore' your install DVD.dmg to it. Then prepare a 10.6.x Chameleon boot CD/Flash drive and use it to boot to the installer.

This way you can leave your 10.5 install untouched and bootable until you get 10.6 working.
