suburbiaboy Posted June 7, 2006 Share Posted June 7, 2006 Hi guys, I'm finding that whenever I run any PPC app the whole OS starts to freeze every couple of minutes. The freeze only lasts for a second but it makes the whole thing unusable after a bit. It's totally solid on non-ppc apps. I'm running 10.4.3 on an AMD 64 X2 4200 on an A8N-Sli Delux. belgrano Posted June 7, 2006 Share Posted June 7, 2006 I think that you have to disable one of your cpu's cores (you have a dual core cpu, right?), but I don't know how to do that... Anyway I remember reading about that problem. Search the forum, I'm pretty sure someone reported that freezing problem before. There are some solutions but not really permenent (disabling a proc) and it kind of tails off. Does anyone have any further thoughts on the AMD X2 skipping or stuttering problem? I know there are loads of people who were involved in the thread above, anything new? suburbiaboy Posted June 8, 2006 Author Share Posted June 8, 2006 If any one is interested the following method worked really well on my X2 4200: <string>platform=ACPI idlehalt=0</string> I've just spent several hours writing in word without a single skip, before it was unusable. Seems to be hit and miss though some people report success at first then problems back soon after.
