aberchonbie
Hey everyone, I just installed OS X 10.5.7 (then upgraded to 10.5.8) I can't seem to get the onboard sound to work. Current comp config is: q6600 @ 3.0ghz, 2x ati 4850 in crossfire 4x2gb ddr2 800 ram I installed the OS from iATKOS 7 that i got off the internet. Now, I installed a fresh copy of this software, booted into safemode using command -x to setup the os, upgraded to 10.5.8 and then installed graphics drivers i found on the internet. Now, I am stuck trying to fix the sound on this machine which i tried for hours on end looking all over the internet.. i can't come to fix it! it's driving me insane! I read countless posts and i'm guessing this is the info that you guys might need to help me out: my mobo is a DFI DK X38 T2RB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136051) which has the ALC885 Onboard Sound with the ICH9R southbridge I tried installing so many "kext" files found online that I just don't know what to do anymore. Kexts that I've tried installing: AppleHDA.kext LegacyHDAPlatformDriver.kext LegacyHDAController.kext HDAEnabler.kext AppleHDA.kext ALCinject.kext Also tried "dumps" unloading into AppleHDAPatcherv1.20 but that didn't work either. I have Kext Helper b7 as well as AppleHDAPatcherv1.20 on this comp that i can use if needed. Can you guys help me on what to do? I hope I have messed up anything! (Sorry, I'm new to the Mac scene and I don't know what kexts are or how these files work) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192596-help-with-alc885-on-1058/ Share on other sites
