Hi All,

I am facing a problem with the Lifehacker method. HW is exact to the specifications in the tutorial and I have successfully booted into the USB and installed SL to the internal drive. My problem is that when I restart the BIOS completes, but then my monitors go black with an "out of range" error and I miss the bootloader start screen and cannot select the internal drive. Instead when the monitor comes back I am back at the "select language" screen for the SL install on the USB drive.

Another user "Alan S" reported this problem already, but no one seemed to be able to offer him a solution and he appears to have given up.

Has anyone resolved this? Could it be that the bootloader's graphics are some wacky resolution or refresh rate that is only resolved when the USB drive is initialized?

this is my second hackintosh (dell mini 9 was the first) and I am stumped.

Any help appreciated...

Thanks In advance.

Are you using VGA or DVI? I set the resolution for 1920x1200. This allows all the resolutions to work below it, assuming you have a digital signal (HDMI, DVI). If you are using a VGA connection, your monitor cant seem to think it out properly. My suggestion?

A) Use DVI

:D Change the theme's info.plist to a lower supported resolution. (Which I fixed for people who still use VGA in the new installer

C) Get a different monitor

Stell,

Thanks so much. The new monitors were on order, and arrived yesterday. All is well, and functioning properly. I do need to look into the NIC, which seems to be misbehaving, but I've seen discussions elsewhere on that so I'll go find them.

Much appreciation and Kudos for your ingenious and hard work.
