Hi guys,

I just finished building a new amd quad core phenom black edition system. The motherboard is a gigabyte-GA-MA790X-UD4P, with 4GB of Corsair PC-8500 dual channel memory; 1 TB sata 3.0 Hitachi drive & HP sata dvd-burner. I have downloaded ideneb 10.5.5 and after booting i cant get passed the apple logo screen...it hangs there for ever and I cant get to the disk utility screen. I re-booted with -v option to see what errors is causing the hang:

"Firewire unable to determine security mode; defaulting to full secure"

any advise on how to get pass this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When you boot up the install disk erase your current installation, then goto customize and under fixes, look for one that has "firewire" in it. That should get you past your error.

Thanks for responding. Thats just it, there is no installation...I never got to the point where i partition & format the drive. This drive currently has a 320gb partition where windows 7 currently resides. The remaining 680gb is empty. I was planning on creating a 350gb partition for mac and the leave the remaining space as a separate partition to be access by both operating systems. Would you suggest to wipe out windows 7 and start from scratch?
