audio unstable on MSI K8N motherboard (rest works great)

I have installed IPC 10.5.6. on a MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard with AMD athlon 64 3200+ CPU. Everything works fine, but the audio is unstable. It has an onboard audio chip that is supposed to support AC97 or ALC850.

Using the AC97 kext, I get audio but if I stop it, or put iTunes in pause, it is possible that 5 minutes later I don't get any audio anymore. Sometimes another 10 minutes later it is back => pretty unstable I would say !

I borrowed an external USB audio card (tascam) and that works fine, but I have to give it back :-(

 

Any ideas where I can look for a solution ?
