Bansaku
Greetings, Haveing a problem getting OS X to boot. First off, on an Intel based PC that meets the right spects, Mac OSX was sucsessfully installed on a separate drive via the install DVD I burned from the iso image. In Windows, I changed C:\boot.ini in notepad, adding the following option to the bottom: C:\chain0="MacOS X". I then reboot and got the option to boot up in OS X from the list. I select it, and then when it tries to run, I get <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll is missing, reinstall a copy of the above....what am I doing wrong? Got this far pretty easily, now just have a snag. Any help/suggestions would be most appriciated! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19246-1046-installed-now-a-problem/ Share on other sites

mgoddard
Hmm. My guess is you didnt edit com.apple.Boot.plist and when you select OS X in the Windows boot menu, the Apple bootloader tries to boot off the first active partition it finds which in this case would be Windows. But for whatever reason it isn't loading Windows properly. Using the install disc or a Linux livecd, edit com.apple.Boot.plist and add the keys which will enable the Apple bootloader's menu. I dont know them off the top of my head but a quick search on this forum should find them for you.
