I've been following religiously a set of instructions from the P6T tutorial in the Genius Bar, started by MJ but fleshed out by Smegoid. The first time I tried it, it worked flawlessly and I had a perfect working install of 10.5.7. Then, stupidly, I did an apple update and broke my install by updating to 10.5.8 without doing any research. Since then I've been trying to get back to that point but to no avail. For the first few attempts I would get to the last step (getting the GFX 260 working) but it would fail on that. I don't know how to fix it so each time it failed I would reinstall from the beginning following the instructions line by line. The last three installs however, have been failing earlier than the graphics card step. I'm not doing anything different -- I'm just installing afresh each time and doing exactly the same thing. I've been at this for a week now and this new problem is compounding my frustrations. Can *anyone* help me understand why this is happening? If you need me to provide anything just let me know. lee majors Posted October 17, 2009 Author Share Posted October 17, 2009 well, after a long week of reinstall after reinstall, i managed to figure out the problem. turns out i needed to completely erase the CMOS and fully reset the BIOS to defaults before attempting to reinstall. very happy i managed to solve it by myself. completely puzzled at the lack of any kind of support here though -- not even a "hmm, have you tried..."
