lite.taker
I think DG965RY is the worst motherboard of all, but I'm stuck with it. I saw on the osx86 wiki page that DG965RY works with iDeneb v1.4 (10.5.6) and mentions a couple of patches to be installed. I did all that. I was able to boot the DVD, run the installer, chose the patches (powerfix and seatbelt) and finished the installation successfully and restarted. But then, it shows the "loading Darwin..." blah blah, at the prompt and then reboots the PC and it loops for ever. What did I do wrong? The wiki page suggests that iDeneb v1.4 will work. I also noticed that under "Vanilla Kernel Working?", it says, "not tested". So, should I have to install a kernel patch or something, if so which one? System Config: Mother Board: Intel DG965RY CPU: Intel Pentium D DualCore 3.0 GHz Graphics Card: Nvidia 8600 GT RAM: 1 GB (please let me know if more information is needed) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/191979-how-to-install-ideneb-v14-on-intel-dg965ry/ Share on other sites
lite.taker
Bump. Okay, now I was able to fix the infinite reboot loop (when trying to boot the OS, NOT while trying to install), and it boots. But then I get a blank screen. By the way, I installed the NVinject patch. A friend suggested to delete the kext, NVinject, didn't help. So, the new question is, how to get rid of the blank screen problem while booting the OS? Please Help!!! EDIT: Patches Installed: Kernel 9.5.0 Voodoo Seatbelt_Fix Poweroff_Fix Video: NVinject > 512 MB Re-edit: Installed mac os x and booted successfully. To fix the black screen, I followed the following steps: 1. Restart your pc and boot into your Secondary hardisk and press Enter before countdown expires. 2. type "-s" and hit Enter. 3. type "/sbin/mount -uw / "and hit Enter 4. type "cd /System/Library/Extensions" and hit enter 5. type "rm -rf NVDAResman.kext" and hit enter 6. type "exit" and hit Enter Got the info from http://mjameelkhan.blogspot.com/2009/09/id...-guide-for.html Small problem, how to install drivers in mac os x after having installed the operating system without any drivers? lite.taker
[sOLVED] Well, after extensive research on these forums at insanelymac.com, I have been able to install Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.8) on my computer. Hence, as a round up, I created a tutorial for those people who have the same motherboard as me (DG965RY, though I believe people with similar boards like DG965SS, etc. will alos benefit from it). I'll give the link to it rather than post it, mainly because it's a very lengthy post. I do refer to many of the insanelymac forum posts in it though. Anyway, here is the URL for a tutorial titled "How to install Mac OS X on DG965RY motherboard" >> http://afterlogs.co.cc/2009/10/25/how-to-i...s-x-on-dg965ry/ Thanks a lot to insanelymac for all the help!
