Between DDing, I always get a kernel panic when I reboot the computer to start Mac OS X for the second time.

It shows me this when i do the -v switch:

The line that caught my attention was the lines that involved the Journal file. It seems that OS X is having trouble with those.

Iterating in simple terms, a freshly DD'ed partition launches OS X fine the first round. But after a reboot, it keeps getting kernel panics and will persist unless I wipe out the disk and DD again. It's a roundabout cycle.

I'm basically stumped :pirate2:

P.S.: Out of 20 trying cycles, it has "survived" once. But it was my mistake to format away my partition later...

I may be wrong, but it looks like you're getting a kernel panic because the loader is trying to boot from a network drive, after failing to access your root drive. nfs_boot is network filesystem boot... your kernel panic derives from this, I think.

So, dont be super concerned about the panic.

How are you booting the drive? from chain0 and windows bootloader?

Hmm, the problem is, I don't intend to boot from any network drive.

After DD'ing my 2.5" HDD via USB (2.5" external HDD casing), took out that hard drive and inserted into my laptop, jumper set to Master config.

Oh, and here's my setup:

Compaq Presario 1500

Pentium 4 2.4GHz

40GB Toshiba ATA HDD

--> 9GB 0xAF Partition (DD'ed, partition identifier changed using Acronis Disk Director)

--> 31GB HFS+ Partition

I know I am not booting OSX off any network. Seems to me that my Journal file (??) got messed up (i donno, that's just a guess)
