Hi there,

Trying to install Snow Leopard on:

Gigabyte EP45-UD3P

Intel 2.8 Quad Core Q9550

WD 1TB SATA HDD

ATI HD 4870

8GB Ram

PATA DVD Drive

Using the Life Hacker guide:

http://lifehacker.com/5360150/install-snow...acking-required

All goes well until I try and install from the USB stick.

After the startup screen where you choose boot device the icon spins for a bit then I get the "stop sign" error icon.

Using -v I get the "waiting on root device" loop.

Ive build a few hackintoshs before and this error was due to IDE jumper settings IIRC . Now im using SATA drive there are no jumpers.

My BIOS settings are identical to :

http://lifehacker.com/5351553/hackintosh-b...selectedImage=1

Ive tried having the HDD on the Purple GSATA 0 and GSATA 1 and the yellow SATA2-0 and SATA2-1

Ive tried disconnecting the DVD drive.

Ive tried an iDeneb V1.4 and Kalyway 10.5.2 install DVD and with the -v switch I still get the same "waiting" error.

Sorry if this is a simple question , but ive done a complete search of this site and google and even though a few people had the same problem , I couldnt find a solution that worked for me.

Ok, I fixed it:

In the lifehacker guide it said to use a seprerate Ethernet card, I installed this straight away before trying to install SL. Removing the Ethernet card and using iAtkos V7 Leopard installed straight away, albiet without sound, but with working internet/network using the top onboard Eth0.

The only thing I did do was in the BIOS use the Smart Lan function. whether this did anything I dont know.

I will give SL a go later.
