ndr_cvr Posted October 12, 2009 Share Posted October 12, 2009 hi folks so i finally managed to install SL on the P5Q Pro with Juzzis Bios and the 3.5 install DVD on a SATA drive alone with GUID at first i had a ati 1650 pro plugged in (cuz my 4870 died) and i also brought the onboard sound RTL 1200 to work i were also able to perform the built-in software update and update SL to latest 10.6.1 everything worked fine and i was looking forward to having full QE acceleration and stuff as soon as i get my 4870 back from warranty replacement but then the day came ... i got my 4870 back (last thursday).. sticked it in.. booted up SL and it HANG so i pressed reset and did -v of course to see whats going on so now i hope someone can help me with the error it says: Sound assertion "!fProvider -> open (this) " failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-174.1.1/AppleHDAController/AppleHDAController.cpp" at line 189 goto Exit ++Device in slot: SLOT---1 ** AttansicL1eEthernet blabla (LAN works after using kext no prob) running dsmos at addr 5c42a000 and offset 109b DSMOS has arrived dsmos: Hook and decryption context set! ndr_cvr Posted October 13, 2009 Author Share Posted October 13, 2009 i just dont get it half an hour ago i tried this: i disabled sound in bios (motherboard sound) booted up using -v again it started booting then i heard the skype starting sound but i was still in den -v screen then i ssh´ed the hackintosh pc with my powerbook and @ top i could see that skype was a running process so the xfi gave me sound (kx driver) but no GUI wtf hehe i just reinstalled and it still starts sticking after it finds the device on SLOT---1 why does nobody else have problems with the 4870 onboard sound? i used the 24.8.09 kext for the onboard sound i also dont know where OS X starts counting the pciE slots because in the top pciE slot there IS the xfi and in the second one is the 4870..
