Ender3D
So I've install OSX on my friends laptop for him after getting bashed with several viri... He likes my macbook but just dosnt have the $ right now to pick up his own, so went to try this as an introduction for him. I'm having a few issues with the hardware compatability. Most notably with the network cards both wireless and wired. I ran the install using the kalyway 10.5.2 disto. Laptop in question is an HP Pavilion dv6000 has the infamous Intel WM3945abg wireless NIC, not 100% sure what model the wired nic is. From what I've bee nable to follow on is that there is an effor to get the drivers working for the 3945 that has been ongoing for a few years now. My question here, is if thre are any current cards that we can purchase as a direct hardware swap that currenty has working drivers? One I was looking at was an actual apple airport card such as this one: Airport Extreme Card 802.11g it appears to be of the same slot type, but the page description does not say if it is mini pci-e any input on this? Or if there are any better recomendations on a differant adapert? The issue I am seeing with the wired nis is that the system will see it, but it will not connect to the network. Had it connected once, pulled and IP and was able to browse the net, however the Network preferances still showed the status as disconnected. after a reboot, I could not get it to connect again. still can't replicate what I did to get it to connect again i assume I have the wrong drivers selected, and I first need to figure out wat adaper I have to more easily track down the proper ones. All I can say with any certanty is that it is either an Intel or broadcom. The final issue I am having with the install is with the usb ports. They work, but only if I boot with a usb device plugged in. I've seen a few post with other that ha this issue, but still havnt run into a solution. Can someone perhaps point me to any info to get this resolved? I realise this particular issue dosnt belong in this section, but since I was posting otherwise, figured I would at least add this. Ender3D
Look at this topic for answers:http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=190911 Good luck! Thanks for the link. looks good, and finding some good prices. Also think I've found some promising info on the USB issue. Just have to wait to get home from work to test and play around with it. Then hopefully I'll have time to find an answer for the wired Ethernet drivers. Is there a way to tell from the info I get in the system profiler what the specific model and manufacture are? the HP website to look for the windows drivers list a couple of different models that were used for the adapter and I'd rather not pull open the laptop to peek at the lable if its not needed.
