Hi

One of the four sata ports on my motherboard has died. Instead of fiddling with Mac-compatible PCI sata cards that may not work - I thought of replacing the motherboard (i need more sata ports in any case). The sata port doesn't work under Windows either - it's pretty much definitely broken.

I'm almost one hundred percent sure that I can't just go and get a new motherboard and expect to continue running my current installation (Kalyway 10.5.2 upgraded to 10.5.3) - right?

Any recommendations on a new motherboard?

Either something cheap with lots of sata ports (6 or more), or something fancier which I could add to (new processor, RAM, Graphics card) later and start a fresh installation.

I'm leaning toward the cheaper alternative (I'll build a new Hackintosh from scratch later). eSata on the board would be a major bonus too.

I currently have an Asus P5LD2 SE motherboard with everything but sleep running fine (and of course that broken sata port). Running Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHZ processor.

Thank you

I'd get a Gigabyte EP45-UD3R. I'm not certain that 10.5.3 is compatible with ICH10... I have one of these boards. Works great with 10.5.6. this board will definitely run your processor. You don't say much about your video card but I'd guess it is PCIe. Probably work fine. See what you think.
