Lamar226
Ok, so I've been "low key" in the hackintosh community for a little while now.. more of trying to install/figure things out on my own, so this is my first post. I have read over and over how many people using this same chipset either couldn't get OS X to install or even boot after installation. To make a long story short, I have been having the same problems as everyone else up until I've downloaded iDeneb 10.5.8 onto disc. Right from the jump, the disc boots into the installer in almost 5 minutes flat (no changes to my system BIOS were made). I went into disk utilities and formatted my 60GB SATA HDD into one partition, GUID and went back into the installer. Under customize, I left everything as-is but made sure that I unchecked any extra drivers it may have pre-selected, which should leave you with just the core options needed to install. Looking through the drivers for a second look, I found a driver listed for the ATI 200/400/XXX Etc. chipset, so of course I clicked on it to be installed. After the installer began (I skipped disc verification) it took at the most, 25-30 minutes to install which is a HUGE improvement from the 3-4 hours I'm used to with other distributions. Now for the hard part.. after reboot, I manually went into Chameleon 2 bootloader and chose to start-up in verbose mode. The kexts went flying down the screen, Darwin started and to my surprise.. it booted straight into the Mac OS X welcome video, of course w/out sound. Then the worst thing happens.. after the welcome video, I get the prompt that say's no keyboard is detected on the system. So I've tried both PS2 and USB keyboards, but no dice. Went with another reboot of the iDeneb 10.5.8 install disc and installed each USB/PS2 device driver listed (I did these 1 by 1, rebooting and trying each time) and FINALLY got PS2 devices recognized. I proceeded to the initial setup/registration process and got to the lovely Mac OS X desktop. From there, I have verified DVD Drive is working, Ethernet/Internet is working and I even got full support on my NVIDIA Geforce 9600 GSO video card.. CL/QE the whole package recognized flawlessly. So this is where I need help.. I had to revert back to windows because I don't want to run Leopard "half assed". I need sound and preferably USB working so I can read/write from flash drives and such. The sound isn't really the biggest problem, I know I can fix that as I have had it working before. But does anyone know of a USB fix for this thing?? I've tried pretty much every kext I ran across on the disc. I remember a couple months back there was a post Topic on here in which there were a couple of kexts listed for this chipset, but I think it has been removed because I can't find it for anything! One more thing to mention, when using PS2 keyboard/mouse.. the mouse performs just fine. But if I type a few characters with the keyboard, the whole system locks up. This happens everytime, so even if I did decide to go with the PS2 keyboard/mouse, that means I cant surf the net and/or type documents. My system specs are below. And also, if anyone else is trying to get Leopard installed on their system with like specs, I'll be more than glad to try and assist with any problems. eMachines W6409 2GB SDRAM 60GB SATA HDD DVD/DL-RW IDE Drive ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 OnBoard Graphics (Not being used) NVIDIA Geforce 9600 GSO PCI-E (Internal Card) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/191198-ideneb-1058-is-the-answer-for-ati-xpress-200-chipset-users/ Share on other sites

I've been trying to get a working hackintosh on my pc for a loooong time now. Will download this and burn immediatley (spelling?). But which kexts/drivers did you install to get the keyboard and mouse working? So I dont have to test it out myself.. Do you use the integrated sound or do you have an internal/external soundcard? I think I have integrated, but if that doesn't work I also got an internal SoundBlaster from creative.. My specs is these: HP Compaq Motherboard ATI Radeon XPress 200 Chipset AMD Athlon 64 4200+ GeForce 9600GT (From a swedish guy who thought he could english..)
