I've been trying to install Snow Leopard on an Acer Travelmate 8200. It's in principal quite similar to one of the older MacBook Pros; Yonah Core Duo Cpu, Radion Mobility x1600 etc.

I'm installing from a USB stick, using Cham v2 RC3 r658. I made a custom com.apple.Boot.plist, SMBIOS.plist and dsdt.aml from information dumped from my machine, with all the usual Terminal commands enabling booting etc.

The USB image boots, but panics when dealing with Firewire it seems, citing these Kexts;

com.apple.driver.AppleFWOHCI(4.3.4)@0x34199000->0x341befff

com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.6)@0x2eafb000

com.apple.iokit.FireWireFamily(4.1.7)@0x34276000

I've disabled Ethernet in com.apple.Boot.plist otherwise it complains about that!

Any idea how I can circumnavigate this? I don't need FireWire support on this machine under OS X, so is there a way of bypassing it?

EDIT:

After quite a bit of tidying, I've got DSMOS to finally arrive, and was greeted with 'dsmos: Hook and decryption contexts set!' but then nothing happens.

I swapped DSMOS.kext out for fakesmc.kext, which seems to get me past this, but then I hit;

virtual bool IOHIDEventSystemUserClient::initWithTask(task*, void*, UInt32): Client task not privileged to open IOHIDSystem for mapping memory

Previous errors I felt I could compensate for by removing/rewriting stuff, but this one has me pretty stumped. :/

EDIT2:

I found IOHIDFamily.kext and removed that, DSMOS arives, and then I get;

Warning - com.apple.driver.InternalModemSupport declares no kernel dependancies ; using com.apple.kernel.6.0.

This used to come up just before the previous error, but I disregarded its seriousness as it seemed to continue despite it, but perhaps it's important. I won't be using any internal modem functionality, but as the error says, it seems I can't remove anything as it's defaulting to the kernel for kext dependancies, which means I'll need to mess with the kernel? That would obviously preclude the ability to patch this like a vanilla system :/
