hti
Hey Guys! I tried installing snow leopard with a modded usb-drive, as described here: http://ipis-osx.wikidot.com/forum/t-178397...install-usb-key, but the installation gets stuck already at the grey initiation screen, with the wheel turning. I waited over an hour without anything happening. Has anyone had success with installing snow leopard on the eee 1000h? Since there are so many different tutorials that have been changed from time to time, I find it really difficult picking out the best. It would be soo awesome if somebody with a working system would take the time and write a clean tutorial! I had 10.5.8 perfectly working on mine with stock wlan working and everything, except for the touchpad. I've used the voodoo kexts but still the whole touchpad's dead and an external usb mouse is not too fancy for a little lady like the eee. SL saved almost 10gb on my MBP and there should be much more support for drivers, that's why I thought it should work nicely. Now I'm a little disappointed and almost on the edge of giving up and going back to leo, but hey, there MUST be a way to get it working!!! I'd be grateful for any advice on installing SL on the 1000h! Thanks for your support mates!
y2k-inc
follow this guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=190295 But you will need a working Leopard on one of your disk partition (or external HD), going to this location: /Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Package and Open (double click) OSInstall.mpkge (do this within the working OSX session. Once the os installed, don't reboot, run the NetbookInstaller.app, leave all the option as default, but DON'T select the make/patch DSDT ... after that your 1000H will be able to boot full valila ... but you will need to install the proper driver for the 1000H, since the sound is not working and the wireless is not working, unless you have an Airport card. I then updated to 10.6.5 latest using Apple SWupdate. Most things seem to work, except: standard 1000H wifi with latest Ralink driver will not do WPA/2 enterprise (will do open and WPA/2 psk), external VGA only does extended desktop, the LCD backlight will not turn on after waking from sleep and occasionally the keyboard/trackpad do not work on startup (maybe 5% of time, seems to be some kind of "race" condition).
