deesto
After changing out my LCD monitor to a bigger size and different brand (from a Westinghouse 22 inch to an Asus 24 inch), I can no longer boot into my 10.5.7 partition. As normal, it takes 5-10 minutes to finish loading, but not as normal, instead of logging in, I get a black screen at the end that scrolls a few lines of errors over and over, I believe similar to these lines: Sep 30 17:33:07 myosx86pc /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow[52]: ERROR | main | session setup failed (status = 226), launched by init = 1 Sep 30 17:33:07 myosx86pc /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow[52]: ERROR | main | loginwindow argument passed = console I pasted the whole boot session log from system.log here, if that gives a better idea: http://deesto.pastebin.com/f2945264a Any idea what the problem is, and how to fix it, either from editing a file from Windows, or somehow booting in? vilpostus
Try reinstalling the vga driver with the new monitor connected. e.g. Connect the older one, remove the driver/efi string. Connect the new one. Boot, install a driver/EFI string. Connect the new one. Boot, install a driver/EFI string. Thanks, but can't do that: the old monitor is long gone. :/ Is there a way to do it without the old monitor? I can access the OSX file system through Vista, if it's possible to make the change that way. vilpostus
You could remove driver by booting from an install DVD (should work)with Terminal. In case you have EFI used, the same as the above, only need to edit the com.apple.Boot.plist file in terminal. Or simply get the original com.apple.Boot.plist file, write it to FAT formatted pen drive and replace the old with the new one (again by booting to install DVD and using terminal).
