CatZilla
Alright, so my dream came true! I now have an almost fully working 10.5.8 install on my VGN-CR190, with the exception of sleep and battery indicator, which is what I need help with. The story: Whipped out my 10.5.6 iPC dvd, and did a clean install, checking applicable items, such as ICHx drivers and appropriate sound drivers. I also included SMBIOSEFI.kext. The installation went smooth and clean, however, the laptop showed some scrambled image instead of the boot-up picture after booting (oh, dreaded X3100!). Sound, however, worked. I searched for the problem and found how to resolve it - connect the laptop to an external monitor and use trickery to get it to display the correct resolution on the internal monitor. That worked, and after installing SwitchResX, there were no problems with the display anymore (full QE/CI). Next, I installed chameleon RC3, built the dsdt.aml, transferred modified kexts into /Extra/Extensions, and built Extensions.mkext using mkext tool. At this point, sleep was still working. Next, I updated using the official software updater to 10.5.8. The system booted up fine, but sleep was no longer working, and there was no battery indicator to begin with. Another issue was with the wireless adapter - Sony used 4965AGN, which, of course, is not supported at all by OS X. I spent 13 dollars on ebay and got myself a Broadcom BCM4312, which worked just fine after patching the corresponding kext (it's a pinned topic on the wireless hardware forum, you cannot miss it). Here's the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT Anyway, the laptop is now very much usable, but in System Profiler it says that it's a MacPro2,1, and there's no sleep or battery indicator. Can somebody help me solve these issues please? Thank you very much =) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/190763-partial-success-sony-vaio-vgn-cr190/ Share on other sites

CatZilla
Nope. Funny enough, the laptop is still alive and so is the system. I keep it there just in case.
