spacetoilet
Following the 'simple guide' I got my 4870 fully running. Anyway I have a Q6600 2.4ghz, 3gig Ram, Dell xps 420. Now as far as I can tell I got it all running pretty sweet (except sleep). But was wondering, when I run an xbench test, I beat my wifes macbook in everything (as expected) but the macbook KILLS me on open GL. It gets 299 and I get 150? Is there something else I cound do to tweak my Hacintosh, or is as good as it gets for my ATi and the drivers I got working? (using Simple guide thread). BTW I do have quartzE/OpenGL/Rotation all supported. Kalyway 10.5.2 updated all the way to 10.5.7 Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/190720-ati-4870-any-way-to-improve-open-gl/ Share on other sites
mitch_de
Xbench isnt an today unusable OpenCL bench app - you get there GMA950 OpenGL speed faster than ATI 2600XT - unuseable! Since > 2 years not updated, very small OpenGL window, very lowend OpenGL 1.1 test - today we are at 1.6 at least !! - forget that Xbench OpenGL values on modern Macs (sure usable on old Mac with old gpus 2006 and before) use OpenGLExtensionsviewer insted , Benchmark, fullscreen highest res avauilable + 32 Bit, Multisampling*4 With that settings you get real world OpenGL speed benches ! http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/download.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/190720-ati-4870-any-way-to-improve-open-gl/#findComment-1291501 Share on other sites
