Hello all...I've been a hackintosher since the beginning of 2008. I have an Acer M5630 desktop that is currently running 10.5.8 beautifully...except ONE thing...it only sees one core of my Q6600. Is there anyone out there with any suggestions. I have read some about hacked bioses and I am willing to try that or any other suggestions. I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Here is my setup:

Acer M5630 desktop

Acer EG31M motherboard (Intel 946GZ + ICH7DH)

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

Current BIOS: R01.C2

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Update...all 4 cores now work and show up on activity monitor! Just wanted to update this thread in case some one is researching getting the Acer M5630 up and running. How I did it..http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85655&mode=threaded&pid=725983

I flashed my BIOS with the R01-A4 Bios that is referenced in that thread. The ONLY BIOS setting that needs to be adjusted is enable XD setting...that is it...don't touch anything else.

So...just to sum up my Acer M5630 installation.

First get rid of the Radeon HD 2400 pro video card that comes with it...you can get it to work with full resolution and QE/CI but it is way to big of a hassle. I bought an Nvidia 9800 GTX+ and it works like a dream.

Install method: iDeneb v 1.3 10.5.5.

Customize install by selecting:

Ich7 fix

the last kernel choice (I forget which one that is)

apple azalia audio

mac pro bios

acpi fix

then...

run the iDeneb 10.5.8 COMBO update

Flash BIOS with R01-A4 BIOS to enable all 4 cores (this can be done whenever)

That's it...ENJOY!

And now...I am going to try to install Snow Leopard..although I may purchase a new Gigabyte mobo that is much more compitable and runs snow leopard vanilla kernel.
