ID_Tech
Hi all, I'm a very patient/resourceful PC-user (MAC-newbie), who's been wanting to cross-over for a while now. Few days ago I took the red pill. Of course, I've spend hours on the net (not unlike Neo) learning about OSx86 project and trying to figure-out whether my 2005 HP can pull it off. Then I got myself iPC Universal PPF5 (Final) v. 10.5.6, partitioned my sole HDD to have some 20GB to play with and took a plunge. First attempt took about 40 minutes and led to green check-mark, although when restarted it came-up w/ "boot0:error" and I couldn't even get back to WinXP to check my notes to see what went wrong. So I gave it another shot another day (my wife wasn't pleased of course, she was left w/out PC for a whole day). Second attempt: Erased old partition in Disc Utility, pocked around inside the Terminal to make sure Leopard partition is active, checked-off necessary things (at least in my opinion and some notes) during Customize and..... Green Check-mark, Install Success< Restart...... "boot0:MBR" good sign already, then "boot0:done" and it just hung there.... At that point I had to reverse our PC back to WinXP (another couple of hours trying to figure-out how-to w/out XP start-up disc). And now I'm wondering - should I try the same with separate Hard Drive? Does what happened really mean that my hardware is able to handle MAC? Somewhere on OSx86 Wiki, I did find my mobo used with iDeneb install and I used parameters listed there. However, iDeneb v 1.5.1 v.10.5.7 I've been able to track down, didn't even start. So I just used install instructions I've found on OSx86 Wiki for iPC. All works now! Sorry for the lengthy post. I just really want to know at this point - should I invest into another HD and keep trying (I really want to, too!)??? Thanks for your time.... I'll be posting successful configuration later on. B.
