krillert
Hey guys! Been reading this forum for some time now and i have the Kalyway 10.5.2 installed on my PC and spins like a cat Everything just works. However the one thing that does not work is my Netgear WN111V2 USB Network card. However the system detects it and i get this info: USB2.0 WLAN: Version: 1.06 Buss (mA): 500 Speed: Up to 480 Mbit/sek Vendor: ATHER Product-ID: 0x9001 Serialnumber: 12345 Vendor-ID: 0x0846 My router is a Netgear to called WNR2000 and works flawlessly on my win installation (offcourse ) I have tried all guides and the closest thing to a solution i could come was to try some REALTEK drivers that after a "little" googleing found got this working. BUT after a number of tries to get it to work (It just jumps up and down and then ends with "Application not responding) i gave up. The i tried with another possible solution that ivolved installing these drivers http://www.sustworks.com/site/news_usb_ethernet.html no luck there eather. So you may wonder if my othe USB stuff works and the answer is YES. I have my mouse, keyboard and my M-Audio Audiophile USB soundcard working perfect. The "indicator lamp" on the WN111V2 is also lighted ready to connect. So now after many, many hours of googleing, searching in forums and alot of trail and error, i have now given up on my own technical abilities to solve this problem and now turning to you here on my knees begging for someone that can help me to solve the last bit of this puzzle. My specs are: AMD 64 Athlon 2.0Ghz Dualcore SAMSUNG HD753LJ 750GB SATA 3 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8500 - 512Mb VRAM Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170A Also another strange thing is this: (Its strange since i dont eaven have a firewire port) FireWire: Type: FireWire Hardware: FireWire BSD-unitname: fw0 IPv4: Configmethod: DHCP IPv6: Configmethod: Automatisk Proxyservers: Exceptions list: *.local, (my ip adress is here) Passive FTP-mode: YES Ethernet: MAC-adress: ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff Media alternatives: Full Duplex Mediaundertypes: Automatic choice All help is very welcome at this stage.. [EDIT] First of all thanks for the advice. Seems like the WG111V* drivers from NETGEAR are the same as the REALTEK and i tried out all the drivers (one at a time) and they all gave me the same result as i got before, it just keeps bouncing until it stops and says "Application not responding". :/ So maybe i need to install a newer distro.. Dont know but its very frustrating, AND i understand that everything cant work 100% since its not made for my PC. But i do know it works since there are people that has got it to work. Thanks Chris Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189786-netgear-wn111v2-help-needed-please/#findComment-1286762 Share on other sites
2o2
http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id/2557 download it right there for osx 10.5 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189786-netgear-wn111v2-help-needed-please/#findComment-1287062 Share on other sites
krillert
http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id/2557 download it right there for osx 10.5 Yes i know thanks mate but doesnt work. When i start it just jumps up and down and the it says "application not responding" So i did what i should have done long time ago and install the iATKOS v.7 10.5.7 and workes eaven better than the Kalyway 10.5.2. Was abit more tricky to install but its so much faster on my machine etc. Anyway i thought this would solve my problem with these applications and drivers would start, BUT it DIDNT.. lol.. same damn problem.. So i might just go out and buy a card that works on mac´s. Still tho if anyone cares to contribute with any knowlege on how to get this to work please share Kind regards Chris Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189786-netgear-wn111v2-help-needed-please/#findComment-1287225 Share on other sites
2o2
you dont have a proper usb kext installed then i guess. i have the exact same card and its working fine. u may need to download another iopci.kext i think thats what its called. download the one from the ar5007eg forum Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189786-netgear-wn111v2-help-needed-please/#findComment-1288157 Share on other sites
krillert
you dont have a proper usb kext installed then i guess. i have the exact same card and its working fine. u may need to download another iopci.kext i think thats what its called. download the one from the ar5007eg forum Not shure what you mean. The card is detected by the system and OS and all other USB devices works fine. This shows up in my "systeminformation" USB2.0 WLAN: Product-ID: 0x9001 Vendor-ID: 0x0846 Version: 1.06 Serialnumber: 12345 Speed: Up to 480 Mbit/sek Vendor: ATHER Slot-ID: 0xb3200000 Available stream (mA): 500 Neciserry stream (mA): Uknown (Unit not set) So its there, the system see it and knows what it is so the problem isnt with the USB drivers. I have a USB Keyboard, mouse and a USB soundcard from M-Audio that works flawlessly. Its the damn application that doesnt wanna start, it doesnt respond AT ALL.. doent give me any messages or anything just jumps up and down and then stops and nothing happens. Please anyone? this is driving me nuts :censored2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189786-netgear-wn111v2-help-needed-please/#findComment-1289003 Share on other sites

krillert
weird u have a different product id than i do. mine is also wg111v2 usb adapter and it works fine, no glitches ever Yes becuse i dont have the WG model i have the WN111v2 so its a different adapter. i have wg111v2 and wn111v2, the wg111v2 is ralink the wn111v2 is atheros , the wg111v2 work, the wn111v2 no (leopard and snow leopard, is not supported), i have try many different guide but......sorry for my bad english Yes i understand you. BUT people IF i had a WG111V2 i still cannot get the drivers to work. So my problem is software related first of all. I need to get the some of the softwares to work. I have a friend that let me test his WG111v2 but still eather the Netgear utility or the Realtek utility works. It just bounces up and down. So if someone know how to get the software to eaven start i would be happy. So to make it clear again i cant get the utilities to work. They install correct, i restart and then start the utility and it never starts, just jumping, then it stops and nothing happens. I look in the activity monitor and its active BUT not responding. tr309
Too bad people don't read properly. The guy has a WN111. This is a different product to the WG111. If anyone has had any luck with the WN111 I'm v interested. I have one of these devices which was great on Windows. I'd love to get this working on OSX 10.6.
