Hi all,

With this topic I want to help users to have their Dell D410 up and running with Mac OSX86 10.5.6, network included.

I downloaded iPC_OSx86_10_5_6_Universal_PPF5_Final.

Steps to Install - No Dual Boot - Pure OSX86 - INstructions have been tested multiple times. It works.

1. Boot to disk, select Language

2. Go to Tools --> Disk Utility

- Click on Drive listed on the left

- Click on Erase Tab

- Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

- Name your drive anything (ie. Macintosh HD)

- Click on Erase

- Close the Disk Utility

3. Press Continue

4. Select the drive you want for the install - Press Contnue

5. Click "Customize" in the lower left corner.

6. Select these options

7. Kernel - 9.5 VooDoo

8. Drivers

Video --> Intel --> GMA900 (if you have the ati card, select X3100)

Chipset --> LegacyAppleIntelPIIXATA

Audio --> Other Audio --> AC97

Wireless --> Intel --> 2200

Ethernet --> AppleBCM5751Ethernet NOTE: Doesn't work yet

USB Drivers --> Select the two options listed

Power Management --> Select all options, 5 listed

Fixes and Patches -->

~ ACPI Fix

~ Time Machine Patch

~ IOPCIFamily.kext patched

~ Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5

~ USB Mount Fix

~ Optional - not tested - Shutdown Restart Fix

Applications - All of them except Marvin's AMD Utility

9. Press Done

10. Click on Install

11. Click on the Skip button for Disk Verification

12. Install takes about 10 minutes from this point.

13. Press F8 on first boot – type in "- f" for the first reboot.

At this point you are most of the way through.

This is what doesn't work

 TrackPad, Keyboard and Volume Buttons ( We are going to Fix )

 Power Management (Battery Indicator)

 Ethernet – If someone has a fix, I would like to know so we can include it.

This comes from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=165972

You will need an external mouse and keyboard once booted in. The mouse and trackpad do not work at this point. You will need to download this package and open it with Pacifist. DO NOT Execute the pkg as it will render everything you have done up to this point usless.

KEYBOARD AND MOUSE Install

1. Download Package PS2Fix1054.

2. Right Click on the Package Open With Pacifist

3. After 15 Seconds, Click on Not Yet (Support Charles if you use this App)

4. Expand contents of "Choice0"

5. Expand contents of "appleps2controller.pkg"

6. Right Click "ApplePS2Controller.kext" and select the option "Install to default location"

You now have trackpad and keyboard, including the sound and mute buttons.

After that I followed http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...art=#entry73971 to install the wired network.

At first this didn't work, was it coincidence it was after 2nd reboot that it worked, I don't know for 100%... OR this might have done the trick :

I browsed to System/Library/Extensions, rightclicked IONetworkingFamily.kext and chose Show Package Content, then into Contents/Plugins and copied

AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext to the desktop, then I rightclicked the copy on the desktop and chose Show Package Content, then into Contents and opened

Info.plist and added <string>pci14e4,1645</string> to the list. And then copied this AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext back into the open System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext

There is a list somewhere here on InsanelyMAC with vendor ID's and so, but I forgot that, sorry....

(if anybody has the link please share it with me)

After I found out the wired network worked, I first managed to get the wireless up through this tip :

The intel 2200b/g works if you use the Network Selector utility that is installed the Applications folder with iPC 10.5.6 however, while the utility/driver does make the card function properly (nicely done), make note that it DOES NOT support any wireless encryption (No WEP, no WPA, No WPA2, etc). .

In that Network Utility I pulled some nrs and connected to my wireless network.

So actually I turned off my encryption on my router and then it connected, after that I was able to get into Network through System Preferences (which didn't succeed before) and I was able to see Airport AND Ethernet.

In the tab Ethernet I put in a Manually address, also DNS, and it connects without any issues now, no freezes, no loss of connection....

Hope this helps you guys.

Stephane
