superdog000
Hello everybody. I have this laptop Asus X56SN (http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-X56SN.9687.0.html) except that my has a corel duo T8300 and 3 gigs of ram. Can I install OSX on it? What version can I install in it? And also where can I get a tutorial or something to explain me how to do it? Thank you very much. punk_zappa
There is a good chance that it will run on your machine it just depends on the distro so I would suggest to try iDeneb LITE, iPC or iATKOS v7. Tutorials are all over the net so you are on your own on that. And also could someone explain to me what will be the bigger "problems" when installing this? srs5694
And will wireless work? What about the ethernet? How do you know if things will work? Shouldnt I post some more specific specs? Detailed specs can help somebody with the necessary knowledge make predictions about what will or will not work. You can do some Google searches (try searching on a component model number and "OSx86" or "Hackintosh"), or check sites like this forum's hardware database. Ultimately, though, it's a {censored} shoot: It might work or it might not. Something that's got drivers might not work in your specific machine for any of a number of reasons. Networking (wired or wireless) is no different from other items in this respect. My impression is that wired networking poses fewer challenges than wireless, but neither of these is as critical as the hard disk controller(s) and video chipset, particularly on a laptop system, since you can use a USB network adapter if the built-in stuff doesn't work, but you can't easily replace the video or hard disk interface on a laptop. And also could someone explain to me what will be the bigger "problems" when installing this? Thanks again None of these is certain to be an issue, but any or all of them could be: If you're not used to partitioning, you might run into basic problems with this, such as damaging your Windows installation (if you want to keep it), setting up partitions incorrectly in half a dozen or more different ways, or doing things in a suboptimal or overly-hard way. The installer might not boot. The installer might refuse to recognize your hard disk or the partition you've created for OS X. The installer might hang or reboot mid-installation. The installation might complete but the installed system might then refuse to boot. One or more devices might not work, or might work but in a sub-optimal way (video might be stuck on the wrong resolution, for instance). You might or might not be able to work around such problems. The system might be unstable. Attempts to upgrade after installing everything might break the system. I don't mean to scare you off with this list; as I say, you might not run into any of these issues. Chances are you'll have at least some problems, though. If you want a problem-free Mac OS X experience, IMHO the safest approach by far is to buy a genuine Apple Macintosh. The Hackintosh route is fun for computer geeks, but it's not something I'd recommend for less technically-inclined people. As this was just an idea of mine I can say now that Im not going to do it ( mainly since Im not a geek ).
