I'm new to the world of hackintosh, this started out as a project for fun. A friend of mine got me up and running the other night, and I've been browsing these forums and tooling around, trying to make it work.

I'll start with my system specs

Dell Inspiron E1705

Processor: 1.73 GHz Core Duo

Ram: 1GB

Video: Intel 950

Sound: Sigmatel 9200

WIFI: Intel 3945 a/b/g (I know it doesn't work in osx, I'm waiting for my 1490 from e-bay to arrive)

OS: OSX Ver. 10.5.8

Installed software: Apple HDA Patcher ver. 1.20

Sonotones Dell Laptop post installer

I've been to devilhoods comprehensive tutorial, the taruga thread, and followed (or at least tried to follow) the instructions.

The issues I am having are with my sound, touchpad, and video drivers. Which seem to be common and easily fixed, for I can't make it work!!!

With the Apple HDA patcher, you are supposed to drag and drop a copy of your linux codec onto the icon. Now, I tried just dragging the text, that didn't work. So then i dragged a physical copy of the text document, dropped it, and that still didn't work! What is going on here? Am a skipping an obvious step or something???

The video card shows up properly in my system info, so I would assume I've got the correct driver. However, when I go to adjust my resolution, I've only got the 1024x768 option.

When I try to use my trackpad, the cursor jumps around like an ant trying to escape a fire. I'm not sure what the solution is, I've seen a lot of threads around here describing it, but no real solution.

I have read about this cpu stuttering issue, but my friend told me that he fixed that when he did my initial install and that I didn't need to worry about that. Was he incorrect?

I've been curious about the osx generation of the os, but let's face it, macs are outrageously expensive. So I thought that i could perhaps have my cake and eat it to, so to speak. I'm just getting really frustrated here, but I don't want to give up on this when I am so close to having it working, and I know others do have it running and are happy with it.

Thanks in advance for anyone that might care to help me!
