gerkX
Howdy all. I'm frustrated and hoping to get some help with my first hackintosh. I have a GA-EX58-UD5 based hackintosh. I picked the motherboard based on seeing several posts from people indicating it worked. I even have a pack of kext files specifically marked for it. But so far I've had no luck. I formated and installed SL on the hard drive using an mac, as per the instructions I've found. Using the x58 mobo patch installer. It boots fine, and I used OSX86tools to get my 8800 gts graphics card working. The network control panel shows two ethernet connections, but it does the self assigned ip thing, and refuses to accept dhcp. I've tried every network kext I can find that even seems remotely likely to work. Similar with audio. no matter what kext I try using I never get sound. I was hoping that someone who had this mobo and had their network and sound working might be able to lend me some advice. I'm so close to getting everything working I can taste it, but without sound I can't so much, and without network I feel like I only have half a computer, hehe. Regarding network, I believe there are 3 things you need to check: 1. Make sure your Mobo patch used the RealtekR1000 ethernet drivers (in the Kexts_10.6) taken from the second zip from the Mobo package. 2. Make sure the kext installer applied this kext in the /System PList and not in /Extra. 3. Use the Plist string editor (i think option 8 in the patch menu), and add the EthernetBuiltIn=Yes setting in your boot.plist. Regarding Sound, make sure the HDAEnabler and AppleHD kexts (I think they are number 4 and 5 in the kext install window inside the mobo patch) should be installed in /System and not /Extra. After you reboot, you should be able to set them in System Preference.
