Hello folks,

I have managed to successfully install SL 10.6 on my Aspire 5920G.

Heres the key points.

Currently installed to a external USB disk.

I have no idea if it works on the internal disk, but the disk is accessible including NTFS support when the install is finished.

I used this to ease the installation process. PRE-INSTALL AUTOMATOR v1.1

It works well but the instructions are missing a few steps.

1. The target drive you are installing onto must be formatted GUID.

2. The target partition PRE-INSTALL AUTOMATOR v1.1 asks you to install to is always the partition with the data, not the EFI partition. It won't let you install to an EFI (obviously) but I scratched my head at it for a little while.

3. My cmos was resetting everytime I booted into OSX.

4. After patching for the CMOS fix using DSDTE, it crashed and I had to use this switch in Chameleon

USBBusFix=Yes.

I dont know why these are related but it must have something to do with rebuilding the DSDT.

5. Wireless and Ethernet do not work. The hacked Broadcom kext this card hangs on loading. It must be 32 bit and I am trying to run in 64.

6. Audio doesn't work and I'm not sure why.

7. I only had windows installed previously I managed to do all the steps required with the use of a VMWARE machine.

Here is the output of my lspci.

Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 5720G: I have used the "TOTALLY VANILLA" method plus some kernels, and I have everything working (audio with speakers, headphones & mic via VoodooHDA, full GPU support via Chamaleon 2RC3) except wifi (waiting for project camphor..) and Webcam (which worked on Leo tho... so I will try to fix it).

EDIT: Webcam is perfectly working with last release of Camtwist :) :) :)
