Okay here's another thing I'm trying. I don't have PearPC and all that VMware {censored} set up, so what I'm doing is running OSInstall.mpkg from the installation disk over my 8.1 updated darwin that I first installed on my pc, before putting the drive in my mac. Now, the Mac won't let me install OS X on the darwin drive because fdisk uses a different partition scheme to format the drive than Disk Utility, so the Mac wouldn't be able to boot from the drive with OS X installed. So what I'm going to do is install it on another drive, and then actually do all the patches including ditto this time, so I can do essentially what everyone is doing with VMware and PearPC, but I can do it all right on my mac instead and then put the drive back in my pc. I'll let you know if it works, and I'm still waiting for some help in patching the installation disc as well.
