I have been looking around the boards but have been getting increasingly overwhelmed with each topic I read.

In one of the more straight forward recent posts that I have read there is a list of parts by vbetts that seems like a damn good system.

Here is the list:

Unfortunately this is a little out of my budget.

I need a mac mostly for 3 things.

Nothing crazy mainly simple video editing etc. I am not looking for an overkill machine.

Motion

Final Cut

Cinema 4d ( nothing heavy mostly titles )

Is this my best bet or is there something a bit less powerful that can handle these without overtly chugging or should I just try to push for that one there.

I have about $800-900 but if the the build mentioned above is a BIG improvement I can try to push the budget a bit.

I was looking at this guide as well.

Do you think this might be stable enough for what I need?

Thank you so much for any help you guys might be able to provide

Edit

Forgot to mention I already own a MacBook pro. It's about 2 years old, so anything that I build I would like to be a step up form that

Yeah, your wishlist link doesn't work.

Unless you're willing to end up with just a nice PC, I would stick with one of the known good builds. I'm not a huge fan of the life hacker build. For example, Antec PSUs get a lot of mixed reviews. Some are good, and some die quickly. But obviously the CPU and mobo choice get you up and running quickly.
