Ive got a strange prediciment here. I had a Hackintosh a couple of years ago (this exact same machine that I am trying to get to work now) and I had it functioning completely. Now, using the same kext that I used back in the day, the machine does not initialize the ethernet card. It has an Intel PRO 100/VE onboard ethernet controller that I am trying to get to work. I got the hardware ID and the device ID before I formatted into Mac, so I don't have Windows on there anymore (although I can get it on there if I have to, its just annoying to have to do that).

I am using the Vanilla kernel and the Boot-132 method to install. For reference, the machine is a Gateway GT5438 desktop, stock aside from the obvious upgrades.

I used the old kext that worked before, and it failed to initialize at all, didin't give me an error or anything pre or post permissions repair. I verified the device ID, and replaced with a stock kext, and then remodified it with the information that should have gotten it working again. This gave me an error saying the kext was installed incorrectly and that I should contact the manufacturer. I ignored the error, repaired permissions, and deleted the cache, and it still fails to initialize. In the network preference pane, there is no entry for ethernet.

I have spent two days on this, going over the post stickied at the top, and in the genius bar, and have yet to get anything to work. Does anyone have an idea that might steer me in the right direction, short of buying another ethernet card?

Thanks in advance.
