bPalmer
I have a Compaq Presario PC. I've successfully installed OSx86 on it multiple times. I want to share with you some tips and tricks on how to obtain a working system. My System Specifications Processor: Intel® Celeron® D 360 Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS Default Video Card (Built-In): Intel GMA 950 Ram: 1GB Hard Disk: 150GB External #1: 2TB External USB Hard Drive [1] External #2: 2TB External USB Hard Drive [2] ------ Other Information: I tested it using iDeneb, Kalyway, JaS, iATKOS, iPC, and some others (including my own) but for this I'm using iATKOS v7 ------ You do not need to edit the BIOS with this. I installed it without modifying the BIOS settings (to test). It does not require any modifications. Put the DVD/CD that has iATKOS v7 on it (or your choosen OSx86 Install DVD) in to your drive. NOTE TO BEGINNERS: You cannot boot a DVD-R from a CD-R Drive. Once you have put the DVD/CD in to the drive, turn on (or restart) your computer with the disk in it (you can skip this if you feel comfortable). After you've done that, access the boot menu [not the bios] by hitting ESC over and over [depends on your model, mine is SR5010NX] until you get into the screen. Select your DVD/CD drive. Once you've reached the Darwin boot menu, proceed. It's best to use the following boot options [hit F8]: -v Once you've reached the install screen do the following when you can access the menus: Utilities/Tools > Disk Utility Another Note for beginners, if you want a clean, full, osx86 install, click your HD (not the partition). Click on the "Partition" tab and change the "Volume Scheme" to 1 Partition. For a mac experience, I suggest naming it "Macintosh HD" For an OSx86 look-n-feel, I also suggest naming the lone partition "Hackintosh HD". Exit the Disk Utility. Once you're passed the selection of the volume to install osx86 on, click next. When you see the Customize button, CLICK IT. Here are the useful drivers I use for my system (your system may vary): > X86 Patches > Kernel √ 9.7.0 Kernel Voodoo > SMBIOS [Don't need if you've chosen the Chameleon V2 bootloader] > SMBIOS Enablers √ SMBIOS-EFI > SMBIOS for X86 √ AppleSMBIOS-28 > Drivers > VGA [Video Cards] > NVIDIA [or other retail, you can pick anyone from the menu, nvidia aren't the only ones] > EFI Strings for NVIDIA √ VGA/DVI > Enablers √ NVEnable > System √ USB > PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard √ Apple PS/2 Driver [best, works for me] > Network [Before you install, I would check to see what you have for network] > Languages [Additional Languages, English is installed by default. If it goes well, you will see the Welcome "YOUR FIRST TIME" setup screen. If you have any question, just reply and I will get back to you or other people will help you.
