Ok heres the issue. I have an ASUS CG5270 Desktop that I have succesfully installed iAtkos 10.5.7 On. Lan/Audio/Graphics etc. All Work. The problem is that only 1 core is recognized.

My Mobo has the ICH10R Chipset. I initially had to boot the install DVD with cpus=1 in order to get it to boot. I also installed the modified/old ACPI/APIC kexts. Did not select any SMBIOS because I am using Chamelon 2. Using Patched DSDT.aml

I have disabled ACPI/APIC in the Bios. Also Max CPUID as well. cpus=1 is not in com.apple.boot.plist.

I am just stuck google has not been my friend in this one and other searches have hit dead ends.

Does core recognition have anything to do with DSDT.aml or ACPI/APIC? The fact that I am using modified ACPI/APIC kexts causing the problem? Do I need to repatch my DSDT.aml or Modify my BIOS?

Any help at all would be great.

Specs for my desktop can be found here http://gdgt.com/asus/essentio/cg5270-bp003/specs/

TIA

Try CPUInjector.kext

Hello. Has anyone found a solution for this issue? I also own an Asus CG5270 and the processor is recognized as 3.8 GHZ Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 (which is wrong -- my processor is 2.5GHz). I've tried the aforementioned cpu injector, but it didn't work. It seems that only 1 cpu is recognized so far.

Thank you for your help.

I really appreciate your swift reply. Actually, I did set this to AQU= 0105 and installed it using kext helper. I looked at the output and everything seemed fine. But when I reboot, I still see that the CPU is recognized as 3.8 GHz Core2 Quad (mine is 2.5 GHz) and when I look at the activity monitor, I only see 1 core.

Please note that I'm using the bootloader that came with iAtkos v7, so this may be the issue.

Once again, I greatly appreciate your help!

You need to set AQU= 0105 in the .plist inside the kext before using it with a Quad Core CPU.

Are you boys sure you enabled AHCI mode in your bios? This is a very important step though it is not often enough mentioned. Please list all the options you selected in Customize when you tried. Have you tried any other distro's? I like Ideneb my self but now i'm all vanilla 10.5.8:)

yes. I can confirm that AHCI is enabled. I also have Nvidia GT250 which I installed after I purchased the system. Aside from only 1 core being recognized, QE is also disabled so it is not possible to run iWork and other programs that require it.

If there's someone out there who has successfully installed and have all components running, I would really appreciate a tutorial on this.

Thank you.

Hello guys,

Don't know if it will help, but I had a similar problem with a Dell Vostro 420 and an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400.

Only one core after iDeneb Lite 10.5.8 (won't even boot) or iAtkos v7 (boot only with manual enter of cpus=1).

I had both distro working with 4 cores by editing the DSDT which had automatically be patched by iAtkos.
